We all have a mind that wanders.

On majority of the instances we are physically present at a place but our mind is somewhere else, and that's completely normal. Humans tend to lose their focus easily, but don’t worry we’ve got you covered, here are some tips and tricks to improve your focus.

No matter what your age is, you are in school, college, or in the peak time of your career, you can't get forward without focus. A good focus stimulates your mind power and your ability to think. Focus is the gateway to sucess.

Here are some tricks to improve your focus:

#1 Kill Your Distractions and improve focus:

To focus on something, first, you have to analyze what breaks focus. It is about switching off from all your distractions and concentrating on a single work task, staying glued to one spot, and in one thought. The distractions will try to kill your focus, but don't lose on it. The break-up thoughts, anxieties, insecurities, bad marks everything will pop up. But you have to kill them all.

#2 Keep Fit:

Our body is meant to be in motion if we don't move and underutilize our energy, our body will be left with a glut of energy. And this excessive amount of energy will make you lethargic. The chemicals released by your body after an intense physical activity are Endorphins and Serotonin which make you feel exhilarated and happy, they even help you to forget all your sufferings and worries. More serotonin means more energy and clearer thinking.

Exercising not only helps you in polishing your muscles but also in improving focus. It keeps your mind sharp.

#3 Eat Fresh, Stay Focused:

Fresh Food

Food is the fuel that regulates your energy and mood, both of which can notably affect your focus. Food has an incredible ability to help you with mental clarity, improve your brainpower  and most importantly focus. So to boost your focus, monitor what is going on in your system.

Eat clean and fresh, the more packaged and processed food you will consume the more you will lose your power to focus. Increase your intake if natural mind boosters like fruits, nuts, leafy green vegetables, flax seeds, and most importantly pour in lots of water. Water gives you that electrical energy to help your brain function along with the thought and memory process.

#4 Inhale-Exhale to improve focus:

Breathing to improve focus

Always start your day with breath-based meditation. It will keep your mind active throughout the day. Sit in an erect position and concentrate on your breathing and switch off from other thoughts. While you are at the amateur stage of doing this your mind will surely lose focus but bring it back and concentrate again. Doing this will help you to bring back and improve focus every time you miss it while working.

#5 Take Short Breaks:

Working continuously can get boring and exhaustive. To break that monotony, take a break after every 2-3 hours so that you can channelize your energy better. Taking a short break in between is important for your mind to restart and this will eventually improve your focus and concentration levels.

#6 Watch Out The Process:

Concentrate on the process of achieving the goal and not on your goal or any similar event. If you get through this process with the utmost focus without worrying much about your goal, you will be successful. Hence focus on your path and get it right first. Focusing on outcomes and goals is our natural tendency, but focusing on the journey leads to more results over the long run.

#7 Evaluate Your Results:

To do list

Don't keep on doing your task without measuring your progress. Always maintain a list and tick off the tasks done by you and then see where you might be lacking. Once you know your drawbacks at first hand itself, it is easier to focus in a better way.

#9 Warren Buffet’s 2 - List Strategy:

Warren Buffet once asked his pilot Mike Flint to write down his top 25 career goals, after he finished writing this Buffet asked Mike  to review his list and circle top 5 of his important goals. Flint now had 2 lists: One with 5 circled items and One with the other 20. Later, Flint told Buffet that he would right away start working on the other 20 as soon as he gets done with the first 5 which were his primary goal.

Here is where Warren Buffet corrected him and said that the uncircle tasks from the list is the Avoid-At-All-cost list. Whatever the situation be, these uncircled things should not get any attention until you succeed with the top 5.

No matter what strategy you use, just remember distractions will come in your way and you have to be committed to the one thing you have aimed for. You just have to get started and focus will come along if you practice the above techniques.
